چکیده

quantitative analysis of the observed vocal fold dynamics in terms of symmetry and regularity is done with a time-dependent two-mass model of the vocal folds. The model's parameters are numerically optimized to emulate the observed non-stationary vocal fold vibrations. These parameters permit an objective interpretation of vocal fold oscillating asymmetries and allow a classification in normal and pathological cases. The practicability of the optimization algorithm is demonstrated with a set of 242 synthetically generated data sets. By applying the optimization procedure to the recordings of the 16 subjects a correct classification into groups of normal and pathological cases was achieved.

Influence of vocal fold stiffness and acoustic loading on flow-induced vibration of a single-layer vocal fold model.

The flow-induced vibrations of a single-layer vocal fold model were investigated as a function of vocal fold stiffness, and subglottal and supraglottal acoustic loading. Previously, it was reported that the single-layer vocal fold model failed to vibrate when short, clinically-relevant tracheal tubes were used. Moreover, it was reported that the model had a propensity to be acoustically driven,...

Ventricular-fold dynamics in human phonation.

PURPOSE In this study, the authors aimed (a) to provide a classification of the ventricular-fold dynamics during voicing, (b) to study the aerodynamic impact of these motions on vocal-fold vibrations, and (c) to assess whether ventricular-fold oscillations could be sustained by aerodynamic coupling with the vocal folds. METHOD A 72-sample database of vocal gestures accompanying different acou...

Measurement of the vocal-fold vibration behaviour in excised human larynges

The contribution presents information on the experimental investigation of the glottal sound source with excised human larynges. The vocal fold vibrations were excited by airflow and monitored acoustically, electroglottographically as well as by means of laser vibrometry, pressure transducers, videokymography and stroboscopy techniques. The paper is focused on 1) presenting a method for monitor...

Influence of a constriction in the near field of the vocal folds: physical modeling and experimental validation.

The involvement of the ventricular folds is often observed in human phonation and, in particular, in pathological and or some throat-singing phonation. This study aims to explore and model the possible aerodynamic interaction between the ventricular and vocal folds using suitable in vitro setups allowing steady and unsteady flow conditions. The two experimental setups consist of a rigid and a s...

A novel hybrid method for vocal fold pathology diagnosis based on russian language

In this paper, first, an initial feature vector for vocal fold pathology diagnosis is proposed. Then, for optimizing the initial feature vector, a genetic algorithm is proposed. Some experiments are carried out for evaluating and comparing the classification accuracies which are obtained by the use of the different classifiers (ensemble of decision tree, discriminant analysis and K-nearest neig...
